Ladies Football Update ( 18 Oct )
October 22, 2011
Cork Development Squads
Two Ballincollig U13s lined out
for Cork with the U13 Development Squad intercounty blitz at CIT last
Saturday, against Tipperary. Both Michaela & RóisÃn featured in the
half-back line and enjoyed the opportunity to wear a Cork jersey
immensely!
Several
Ballincollig U15 players will be lining out for Cork when the County
Development Squad travels to Waterford on Sat 5th November for a blitz,
and we wish them well!
U16s, U18s & Juniors: Training on Mondays 7-8pm & on Thursdays 7-8pm
The Minor Ladies Footballers dreams of County glory foundered on the rocks of a stronger Fermoy team on Friday night. Having started well with two quick points, Ballincollig were unnerved by relentless pressure on the night, and were unable to capitalise on recent good form, with too few significant scores registered. Attention now will turn to the Mid Cork Minor B Final against Donoughmore to be played in the next few weeks.
The County U21 Championship is being drawn this week and can begin as soon as the teams are available after the Minor Championship. We have been drawn at home to Glanworth in the Quarter Final, on a knock-out basis, so Paddy won't know who to advise!! Details to follow!!
U12/U14 Training on Mondays 6.30-7.30pm, changing to 6-7pm Thursdays from 20.10.11 .
The U12 squad travelled to Passage on Sunday for a match. The weather was kind and Ballincollig displayed excellent play. We have some excellent talent among this dedicated group, many of whom started their football carreers at a very tender age!! U12/U14 Outdoor training has now finished and indoor training has begun at BCS on Thursdays 6-7pm for six weeks.
The costs to cover hire of the hall will be â¬20 per registered player for six weeks, â¬30 per family. Players need to be registered to take part, in case of injury.
The U14 blitz pencilled in for this weekend has been moved to Saturday 29th October to accommodate the U13s who are playing their Muskerry Final this Saturday against Aghabullogue. Best of Luck Ladies!!
U10s: Outdoor training has now finished and indoor training has begun at BCS on Thursdays 6-7pm for six weeks. The training continues though as indoor training has been organised by Aileen & Maria at Ballincollig Community School's fantastic hall in Innishmore. The training day has had to change to match availability at BCS, so for the next six weeks training will be on THURSDAYS 6-7pm!!! The cost of the six-week training is â¬20 for registered club players, and the contact is Aileen for further details on 087-6206024. The U10s are looking forward to attending an U10 blitz in Nemo this weekend, with details being texted out to registered U10s.
Congrats to Coláiste Choilm's Senior team Ladies, who had a cracking one-point victory over Loreto Clonmel early in the week. Loreto had beaten them in the Munster Final last year, so it was an excellent start to their Munster campaign for 2011, testing all positions around the pitch! The Juniors were not so fortunate in their opening match, succumbing to a strong Thurles side. Never mind, plenty of action ahead for them!
