Ladies Football Update (Sept 21 )
September 21, 2011
U16s, U18s & Juniors: Training on Mondays 7-8pm & on Thursdays 7-8pm
Our final league Minor match was played on Wednesday, away to a handy Nemo side, with a place in the County Championship almost certain for the winner. Report to follow next week.
Gaelic4Mumz:
This intrepid bunch of footballers are training away on Mondays at 7-8pm.
U12/U14 Training on Mondays 6.30-7.30pm.
The Mid Cork Autumn Competition is to be played in a blitz format for U12s, U14s & U16s in early October, so players still need to be coming to training. New faces still appearing, and John Fitz, intrepid Cork U14 selector, will be on hand most weeks to help Nic & Deirdre train these lassies, and has plenty of new and challenging drills and ideas.
U10s: Training 5.30-6.30pm on Mondays.
The U8s & U10s had a great day at the Passage Blitz on Saturday. They took part in the opening parade, which was led by pipers and Pat Quill, National President of Ladies Football, together with local luminaries and a few hundred enthusiastic players! President Quill is pictured below discussing the finer points of the game with some of the Ballincollig squad!
Maria oversaw the U10s and Aileen mentored the U8s, on a different pitch. The weather held for most of the day, and the U10s played teams like Grenagh and Shamrocks, displaying their skills and improving with each match. The U8s played teams like Ballyphehane, Glanmire & Ãire Ãg and really enjoyed the opportunity to play their peers and we have plenty of talent among these young ladies! Passage went to a lot of trouble supplying refreshments for all supporters, and the early morning Ireland v Australia rugby match on a big screen, much appreciated by many!
New players are always welcome and training for the U10s will continue into the autumn months with a programme of indoor training when the days become too dark!
