Ladies Football Update (Sept 13)
September 13, 2011
U16s, U18s & Juniors: Training on Mondays 7-8pm & on Thursdays 7-8pm
Following the county title victory on Sunday, the Minors were at home to Donoughmore last week. They held their own for most of the match, and though lacking the sparkle of their Carrigaline Minor encounter the previous week, were able to match scores with the physical Donoughmore side. Eventhough they were slow to open their account, Ballincollig Ladies led 2-5 to 2-3 at the half-way mark following goals from Orlaith Jennings & Grace McDonnell. The Donoughmore Ladies overtook Ballincollig early in the second half, with a couple of goals and were to lead for the remainder of the match. Final score Ballincollig 3-8 Donoughmore 5-10.
Our next Minor match next Monday 19th September will be the clincher against a handy Nemo side, with a place in the County Championship almost certain for the winner. As Nemo do not have lights available at the moment, and it is their home venue, we are going early, to avail of daylight. We will be meeting at Ballincollig Gaa at 4.45pm to travel to Nemo, match at 6pm sharp.
Gaelic4Mumz:
This intrepid bunch of footballers are training away on Mondays at 7-8pm, and a report of their recent blitz will be in next week's issue.
U12/U14 Training on Mondays 6.30-7.30pm.
The Mid Cork Autumn Competition is to be played in a blitz format for U12s, U14s & U16s in early October, so players still need to be coming to training. New faces still appearing, and John Fitz, intrepid Cork U14 selector, will be on hand most weeks to help Nic & Deirdre train these lassies, and has plenty of new and challenging drills and ideas.
U10s: Training is back, 5.30-6.30pm on Mondays.
We have been invited by the Passage Ladies Club to their annual U8s & U10s Blitz next Saturday 17th September for the day! Details are as follows: Meeting at Passage Gaa at 10.30am, parade at 10.45 sharp (complete with Piper!), games at 11am. Dressing rooms will be at a premium, so players should come ready to play, with shorts & boots at the ready! Players should bring a packed lunch, change of clothes, rain-gear & of course, sunblock! Matches will use the one-hop-one-solo format to keep the ball moving to all players and games will be 8 minutes in duration. Tea & refreshments will be made available for supporters, with talk of a bbq if the weather is suitable...! Summer at last perhaps???
New players are always welcome and training for the U10s will continue into the autumn months with a programme of indoor training when the days become too dark!

Cork's Senior Development Squad
This squad play their National Aisling McGing Memorial Cup Competition Final against Dublin on Saturday in Nenagh at 2pm! They played a practice match against Donoughmore Senior Ladies in Ballincollig last Monday night in preparation for the big day on Saturday. The match was in doubt all Monday but the big winds had abated by Monday evening, giving both teams a good workout. Ballincollig Ladies wish Cork Senior Development Ladies all the best for the All-Ireland on Saturday!!

It could be you!!
We are also doing a Predict-the-Score Competition in the Ladies Senior All-Ireland Final on the 25th, between Cork & Monaghan, so hope you'll all have a guess!
Best Wishes:
We hear on the bush telegraph that it seems there will be a bit of conflict for the Ladies Footballers of Ballincollig on the 25th September! Cork Senior Ladies All-Ireland in Croke Park or Ballincollig's finest Minor Buachaillà in the County Football Final, both on the same day, at the same time!! Eeeek! The very best of luck to all involved in both matches, plus those who have to chose one fixture over another!!!
