Junior C Football League v Naomh Abán 21/8/15
Ballincollig hosted Naomh Abán on a nice evening for football. Naomh Abán got the early scores but a goal from Shane Hogan after good interplay between Diarmuid Nolan and Brian O Connor gave Collig a foothold. Points followed from Gavin O Callaghan and Dairmuid Nolan after a strong run. Dan Barry caught a kick out and set up Gavin for a point after a great pass. Further points from Gavin and a goal saw Collig open up a lead of 2-5 0-4.
Naomh Abán got back in the game and despite 2 points from Brian O Connor, Collig found themselves level until Barry McCarthy got a point at the end of a good move involving Dan Barry and Eoin Byrne. Half time Ballincollig 2-8, Naomh Abán 1-10.
Collig started the second half strongly with 4 points in a row from Gavin, Dan and Brian (2). Our defence lead by Oliver Ryan and Paddy Lucey kept things tight at the back and with Cliff Browne and Padraig O Donovan pushing forward, we kept Naomh Abán on the back foot. Gavin won a free and took it quickly to release Shane Hogan for a point before 2 quick points followed from Gavin.
When a point from Shane was followed by a goal from the always dangerous Gavin, Collig were well in command. Cain OâFlynn showed good energy around midfield and points from Eoin Byrne and Dan Barry kept the scoreboard ticking over before Fergal Considine burst through for a well taken point. A late injury to Fergal marred the win and we wish him a speedy recovery. Final Score Ballincollig 3-20 Naomh Abán 2-13.
Line Up: John Stevenson; Michael OâDonovan, Patrick Lucey; Padraig OâDonovan, Oliver Ryan, Shane Tully; Shane Hogan (1-2), Diarmuid Nolan (0-1); Eoin Byrne (0-1), Brian OâConnor (0-4), Dan Barry (0-2); Gavin OâCallaghan (2-8), Barry McCarthy (0-1). Subs used Cliff Browne, Fergal Considine (0-1), Cain OâFlynn.
