Junior B & C Football Activity
August 26, 2015
Our Junior C team has been building towards 1st round of championship while our Junior B team has played challenge matches to fill the gap until the final rounds of the league are played.
Junior B Challenge away to Nemo Rangers 5/8/15.
A strong first half showing from Bcollig saw us lead 0-8 0-3 at half time. With James Murphy leading the attack and Diarmuid Nolan and John Connaughton getting through a lot of ball, we kept the pressure on Nemo. Eamonn Murphy, Paddy Lucey and the impressive Oliver Ryan maintained a tight rearguard action. The strong performances and scoring of Darren Murphy and Jordan OâConnor need to be highlighted especially a neatly taken goal by Jordan towards the end of the match. Final score Bcollig 1-15 Nemo 1-10.
Line Up: David McCarthy; Kevin Bohane, Eamonn Murphy, Michael OâDonovan; Padraig OâDonovan, Oliver Ryan, Patrick Lucey; John Connaughton, Diarmuid Nolan; Darren Murphy, Jordan OâConnor, John Noonan; James Murphy, John Stevenson, Ronan Cambridge. Interchange subs Paul Desmond, Cliff Browne, Fergal Considine.
Junior C league match at home to Ballingeary 9/8/15.
A strong first half from Ballingeary saw them take a 1-6 0-4 lead at half time with a nice left footed effort from Kieran OâToole closing out the first half scoring from Bâcollig.
Collig conceded an early second half goal but responded with a Dan Murphy free and a point from play by Diarmuid Nolan. With the score 2-9 0-6, Collig got our second wind to score 5 points in a row during a purple patch where goal chances were created but missed. Two points from Darren Murphy, two from Dan Murphy and a beauty from distance from Padraig OâDonovan cut the gap but Ballingeary got the last point and held on for a win 2-10 0-11.
David McCarthy, Eoghan OâCallaghan and Oliver Ryan showed up well in defence. The midfield pairing of Diarmuid and Shane worked hard while up front Darren always looked dangerous in his strong solo runs.
