Minor Hurlers Beat The Glen
August 13, 2015
Ballincollig 2-20
Glen Rovers 4-11
Our minors battled to the wire in last nightâs Rebel Og Premier 2 Minor hurling championship quarter final win over the Glen at Delanys. This sets-up a semi-final place against Charleville on August 25th.
We led the Glen by seven-points at half-time on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-8, with captain Aidan OâDonovan leading by example while scoring 1-04. Gerard OâDonoghue and Ben Keohane scored a number of points each too, while at the back, James Linehan pulled off a marvelous save to keep the Glen goalless at that stage.
In the second half, Aidan OâDonovan continued where he left off striking 1-02 in the first 10 minutes (while the Glen got their first goal too). The action swung too and fro before the Glen got 2 consecutive goals to put the pressure on Ballincollig. However, our lads dug deep, with Robbie Bourke 'keeping the scoreboard ticking over' and even a last minute goal from the Glen, could not disturb our unassailable lead.
Scorers for Ballincollig: A OâDonovan 2-9 (0-4f), G OâDonoghue 0-4, R Bourke 0-3, B Keohane 0-2, C Lucey, K Spillane (0-1 each).
Ballincollig: J Linehan, R OâDonovan, J OâLeary, K Crowley; K Spillane, J Murray, L Fahy; R Bourke, S OâNeill; D OâLeary, B Keohane, G OâDonoghue; C Lucey, A OâDonovan, S Walsh.
Subs: D Murphy for S Walsh (35), J Murray for D OâLeary (55) C Bohane for C Lucey (55)
