SFC: Ballincollig Through to Round 4

Ballincollig 1-15 St Finbarrâs 1-12
Ballincollig senior footballers made a great start to their 2015 campaign with a win against St Finbarrâs at Pairc Ui Rinn last evening .They went into this game with as county champions and with a good record in the league and got off to a great start winning a lot of possession and the forwards in particular combining very well to score some excellent points . After 7 minutes they were up 0-4 to 0-0 with 2 points from Cian Kiely and points from John Kelly and John Miskella . After 18 minutes St Finbarrs scored their first point and at this stage the score was 0-6 to 01 . Shane Murphy made a number of runs forward and was un lucky not to score but with George Durrant and Pat Kelly both playing well Ballincollig continued to dominate . Pat Kelly scored a goal after 27 minutes after running on to a breaking ball and finishing well to the bottom corner of the net . At half time the score was 1-10 to 0-4 with Ballincollig down to 14 men with John Miskella very harshly sent off for a straight red .
The second half was always going to be tight and when St Finbarrâs started with 3 unanswered points and Ballincollig had to dig deep to keep on top and after 44 minutes and both teams exchanging scores, a point from Cian Kiely left the score at 1-14 to 0-7. Ballincollig made a number of changes with Pat Kelly being replaced by Alan o Donovan and after a number of black cards being handed out by the referee , St Finbarrâs scored a number of points and on 58 minutes they goaled to bring the margin to 3 points .
A further point from St Finbarrâs meant the finish was very tense and exciting. A point from Sean Kiely after 61 minutes restored the 3 point lead and that is how it finished .
