BALLINCOLLIG expect to be unchanged for their first Cork County SFC final against Carbery Rangers at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday (3.45 pm).

Remarkably, the club have used only 16 players in their starting line-ups in victories over St Finbarr’s, Carbery, Muskerry and Nemo Rangers.

Wing-back John Paul Murphy missed the Barrs game because of a foot injury sustained in the pre-season Tadhg Crowley Cup final defeat by their Rosscarbery opponents, but has been ever-present since.

U21 centre-back Colin Moore started against Carbery only to suffer a shoulder injury in training before the Muskerry quarter-final. He could make the bench.
Luke Prendergast, the U21 captain, has filled in admirably at corner-back and is set to wear the number two jersey.

John Kelly, scorer of the crucial second goal in the semi-final win over Nemo just two days after getting married, is on honeymoon and is expected back at the end of the week.
It’s a novel final with Ballincollig chasing that elusive first title and Ross, finalists in 1905 and 1906 Ballincollig manager, Michael O’Brien, acknowledges the threat posed by Ross.
“They’ve been knocking on the door and have been very unlucky not to get to a final before now. We lost to them in 2009, 2011 and again in 2012 as well as the Tadhg Crowley Cup final at the start of the year. It’s going to be a tough battle, but we will be ready,” he told the Evening Echo.
While both sides carry similar characteristics their respective semi-finals were contrasting affairs with Ross defeating Bishopstown by 13 points. “They’ve a strong midfield, very good forwards and Ross move well,” O’Brien added.
