Impressive win for Senior Footballers
August 15, 2014
Ballincollig 3-15
Carberry 1-11
Our senior footballers are through to the quarter-final of the County Championship following a terrific team performance last Sunday in Cloughduv. Patrick Kelly scored 2-2 while John Miskella showed outstanding leadership when the need was greatest. We started brilliantly and Kelly scored a superb goal to give us a four point lead early on. Ciaran OâSullivan and Sean Kiely were gaining plenty of possession around the middle of the field which was hugely important.
Our younger players also made excellent contributions with Cian Kiely and Cian Dorgan landing excellent points. A superb team move gave us a second goal from Kelly as we led by 2-8 to 0-6, at the break. The west- Cork side came storming back early in the second half and scored 1-3 without reply. It was certainly a worrying time for our supporters as we lost control around the middle of the field.
John Miskella showed great composure and landed an excellent point which settled us down. Sean Kiely kicked a superb goal while Ciarán OâSullivan kicked some excellent points from play in a fine individual performance. It was certainly a great performance and we will now face the winners of Muskerry/ St Nicks. Congratulations to Michael OâBrien and the management team who know that bigger tests will lie ahead.
Ballincollig: D Lordan; N Galvin, L Jennings, C Moore; JP Murphy S OâDonoughue, C Kiely; S Kiely, C OâSullivan; N Allen, P Kelly, G Durrant; J Kelly, C Dorgan, J Miskella. Subs: L Prendergast for JP Murphy, I Coughlan for N Allen, D Tobin for J Kelly.
