Junior Hurlers Continue Winning Ways

Our Junior hurlers outclassed Ãire Ãg in this Ballincollig Credit Union JAHC quarter-final game played in Cloughduv during the week. A powerful second half performance from Ballincollig sealed an impressive victory after we led by 0-12 to 0-7 at the break. Ballincollig dominated the third quarter with some excellent point scoring while our team captain John OâBrien rifled to the net after 41 minutes.
Both sides were evenly matched in the opening exchanges and Ballincolligâs Stephan Coughlan clipped over the opening score of the game. Ãire Ãgâs Paul Ryan is an excellent free taker and he riffled over a brace to keep his side in touch. This local derby was certainly free flowing and Ballincolligâs Aidan OâDonovan clipped over an excellent point to edge us in front, 0-5 to 0-4 after 12 minutes.
Further points from Cian Dorgan (free) and Colm OâConnor increased that lead. Crucially, Ballincollig finished out the opening period very strongly with excellent points from John OâBrien and Killian Kelleher which gave us a five point cushion at half-time.
On resumption, Ballincollig tacked on scores through John OâBrien and Aidan OâDonovan (free) . The victors showed no sign of relenting with Killian Kelleher landing some excellent points from play. A beautiful delivery from Cian Dorgan was neatly dispatched to the net by John OâBrien which effectively ended this game as a contest.
