Ballincollig 2-6 Grenagh 1-3
Foireann Bán made it 3 out of 3 in their League campaign, when they played Grenagh under lights last Monday night. It took both teams a little while to settle into the game, with much fast play up and down the field. Ruby put Ballincollig on the scoreboard with a beautiful point, as the girls settled into the pace of the game. Kara, Fiona and Ruby put on a great display of team-work as together they passed the ball up the field to where Ciara O Sullivan had put herself in a great position to score our second point. Orla scored a confident goal as our scoreline gradually increased. Our backs did a great job of securing our back line, with Caitlin sweeping and clearing the ball with her mighty kicks up the field. Abi and Aisling did well in corner back positions in keeping the Grenagh players out of the square and forcing them to the corners. Aisling Dore and Siobhan secured the wings as Ava, Molly and Orla Keating played confidently throughout the game, always running, challenging and feeding the ball up the safe hands of Hannah and Ruby. We knew this was a game we could win if we kept working hard - at half time score was Ballincollig 1-4 to Grenagh 0-2.
Orla Nic scored a beautiful goal early in in the second half, as Grenagh came out with great energy and determination. Anna Cremin Butler played a great game in goal and made many saves throughout the second half. Ballincolligâs great team spirit shone through, with Orla scoring another point after a beautiful selfless pass from Kara. The game was fast paced right to the long whistle, but the girls kept their heads and put their training to work. Final score Ballincollig 2-6, Grenagh 1-3. Well done Team Bán!
