GAA man wins the Car
Recently Ballincollig Hurling & Football Club ran a very successful fundraising draw for a Polo car and the other prizes. Joe Kennefick a staunch GAA man from the Ballygarvan club was the lucky winner of the Polo which he is due to collect from Blackwater Motors in Turners Cross. Joe is steeped in GAA activities having held almost all the officership positions in the Ballygarvan club over the last 20 years. He is currently the Club PRO and is Manager of the Intermediates Hurling Team in the Club. And he's absolutely delighted with his win and "I'm thrilled" said Joe.
Ballincollig Club Chairman Seamus O' Callaghan said "He was delighted with the way the draw worked out. We hit 95% of our original target of €100,000 which was great in the current environment. We sold 9500 tickets mostly in County Cork, however people from all over Ireland ended up with tickets as well as many returned emigrants from Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada! We got great support from our own members, from local people in Ballincollig, and particularly from the local retail trade including Downs Supervalu, Ballincollig Shopping Centre and Quishs Supervalu. We were also fortunate in obtaining great help from sponsors Blackwater Motors; Liam Barry of DPL Group; Kenneth Quinn of Ballinbuilt which made the whole initiative an outstanding success" he concluded.
Ballincollig Hurling & Football Club is planning to complete the development of their newest pitch (pitch 5) over the next 6 months at the Powdermills in Ballincollig. As well the club plan to carry out maintenance work on two other pitches to help the club meet the growing demand for pitches at the ever expanding satellite town.
