Ladies Football Underage News for September 11th
September 11, 2012
There was a great turn-out last Monday night as our Under 12's returned to normal training time after the summer season. With 24 girls eager to get going, our emphasis this week was on proper kicking technique and point taking, with a huge improvement to be seen in the girls skills. It was great to see new faces joining us for the first time, and anyone interested in coming down and playing would be more than welcome. It is a great way to make new friends, keep fit and have great fun. Training for this group is on Mondays from 6.30-7.30pm. See ye then!
Under 14's
Training is back to normal on Mondays from 6.30-7.30pm for all our 14 players. After a very successful summer season, it is great to see so many girls eager to keep the momentum going into the autumn. New members are always welcome and don't worry if you have never played before, as full training will be given to bring you up to speed. So why not give it a try - bring a friend and have an hour of fun exercise!
Congratulations to Kerry O Leary, who was presented recently with our Under 13 âPlayer of the Match' Award, for her performance in the recent U13 Final v Doughnamore. She received the award for her great display of confidence and team spirit. The Ballincollig had a terrific win on the night and when the girls were really tiring in the last ten minutes, and Grenagh kept trying to break through our defence, Kerry was stead-fast in her defence and stepped up a gear to clear the ball to her team-mates, displaying great confidence and team belief which filtered right up the field. Well done Kerry and keep up the good work!
Under 8's / Under 10's
This Panel of girls are preparing towards an annual blitz in Passage West on Saturday, 22nd September where a panel of U8's and U10's will compete (more details to follow).
Pitch 3 was a height of activity last Monday, as our youngest members were rearing to get their training going. Our Under 8's had great fun with the 2 Mikes as they practiced their drills, played loads of fun games and enjoyed a match at the end of their session. Having fun is the order of the day at training, with lots of laughing and giggling to be heard.
Our Under 10's had a great session as they re-capped on their skills and finished up with some match practice. New members are always welcome for all girls aged 7 and over. It's a great way to meet new friends and have lots of fun. Training continues every Monday from 5.30-6.30pm on Pitch 3. Manager: Maria NicCarthaigh (086-1582492)
