Minor Ladies have a great Championship win over Bishopstown

The Minor Ladies finished their second Mid Cork Minor Championship match on the 2nd Sept., with a significant lead over neighbours Bishopstown at the weekend. Following a defeat to Naomh Abán in their opening match of the 2012 campaign, they needed a decent result to stay in the running for County Championship Qualification. Grace opened the scoring for Ballincollig with a goal in the fourth minute, and with points from Sinéad and Trish and two fine goals from on-fire Nicole they led 4-5 to 2-3 at the halftime whistle. Centre-back Méabh Mac surprised herself as much as anyone else by scoring a point! Sinéad was very effective in the second half, popping points at will from all parts of the pitch. Adele had moved forward following a crunching tackle on Grace which took her out of the proceedings for the evening and scored two excellent points. A tough encounter overall, played on a gorgeous summer's evening (at last), they went home happy, despite the knocks.
