Ballincollig U10 Ladies play first match of 2012!
April 24, 2012
UNDER 10'S
Pitch 1 was a buzz last Sunday evening as our u10 and u8 girls played their first match of 2012. The rain clouds stayed away and the sun broke through as we welcomed the girls from Bishopstown to a challenge match. We had 29 enthusiastic girls from Ballincollig ready to show off their talents and have great fun. Our U10 captain for the day was Anna Cremin-Butler and she led her team in a terrific afternoon of football. The girls were impressive in every area of the pitch with great marking, passing and blocking. It was great to see how much these girls have grown in confidence over the last few weeks, with great soloing and point scoring. Many thanks to our two Junior memebers - Aobha Hickey and Allanah Hickey who did a great job refereeing the matches.

UNDER 8'S
Our Under 8's were especially filled with excitement, as this was the first ever match for the most of the team. There was a great display of hand-passing, soloing and kicking from the girls, who were also great at counting their steps and blocking the ball. The girls showed off all the skills that they have learned over the past few weeks and the team work was great. Many fine points and goals were scored on the day. The great support from the side-line made the day extra special as all the families and friends cheered the girls on. Bishopstown were great opponents and the game was very balanced with all players having ample opportunity to display their skills. The future of the club is very bright with this young bunch of eager girls.
