Saturday 2nd April 2016,
Ballincollig’s Junior B footballers began our Division 2 league campaign with a home match against Cill na Martra. It was a closely contested game where the scores were level 2-4 0-10 at half time. Final score Ballincollig 4-7 Cill na Martra 1-16. A draw was seen as a good result for us against this Junior A team.
The impressive Gavin O’Callaghan was in top scoring form with a contribution of 3-4. Rob Walsh scored the other goal after he caught a high ball in front of our own goal and launched an attack that he finished himself.
Strong defensive play from Oliver Ryan, Tim Collins and JP O’Leary kept Cill na Matra at bay. With Rob Walsh aiding John Lawlor and Richard O’Regan around midfield, there was a platform to release Brian Glavin and David Collins to feed our dangerous inside forwards of Stephen Coughlan and Gavin O’Callaghan.
