U21 Hurling Championship QF
Ballincollig 1-10  Midleton 2-25
Following on from our victory against Glen Rovers we took on Midleton in the quarter final of championship on the 4G pitch at Pairc Ui Chaoimh last weekend. Ballincollig started well and were competing admirably before Midleton stretched ahead with some fine scores. Ballincollig responded with some excellent points themselves and along with a well finished goal from Ben Keohane the lead was down to just four points at halftime. Ballincollig were always going to be up against it in the second half as they chased the match playing into a very strong wind. The much fancied Midleton team were much stronger than us throughout the second half and continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over as Ballincollig competed admirably but couldn’t match the scoring power of their opponents who ran out comfortable winners in the end in a score line that didn’t reflect the great effort of the Ballincollig players on the day.

Ballincollig: P Cooney 0-5 (0-2 65, 0-2 f), B Keohane 1-1, S Walsh 0-2, Karl Walsh, D Dorgan 0-1 each.

BALLINCOLLIG: J Linehan; R O’Donovan, G O’Donoghue, K Spillane; S O’Neill, J Murray, F Denny; R Bourke, S Wills; B Keohane, C O’Leary, E Cooke, S Walsh, P Cooney, K Walsh. Subs: S Murphy for S Walsh (50), D Dorgan for E Cooke (50).

Club News

Best of luck to our U21 footballers who are out this weekend in championship after a long break when they take on our near neighbours Eire Óg. Our supporters are asked to cheer on Brendan Hogan’s team as they look to advance to a County Final.  Please note that admission is free into Pairc Ui Rinn for the Semifinal for everyone due to the fact that the fixture was cancelled previously after a mix up about a referee, both sets of supporters had already paid into that game so there will be no gate taken at this semi final.  It’s not often you can get to see a semi final for free in Pairc Ui Rinn so be sure to come along and support the team. In other news Nathan Wall has been appointed to referee the Munster Senior Hurling club Semifinal between Patrickswell and Ballygunner next Sunday, the match is live on TG4 , best of luck Nathan. The club lotto tickets are as always available from usual sources. Live music continues in the club bar every Sunday at 6pm, see ye all there. UpTheVillage
