I don't think there is any need to hype up the county final anymore as the buzz around the club this week will tell you that something special is in the air.
There is nothing like the week of a county final for players and supporters alike. As a player you are trying to keep yourself busy and ensure you are as sharp as you can be, all the work should be done at this stage. Lots of people will want to stop and chat and ask how you are and how the overall squad are doing, any injuries, any team news etc, You will find your mind drifting forward to the match itself and how you might perform and hoping - just hoping for it to go your teams way and please God you play well and contribute.
We are a proud club and have produced some great players at club and county but we have not been inundated with success when you look at some other clubs either. County championship cups are not exactly handed out either, they are very very hard won.
Since the 40’s and the three county final appearances in a row with the last of these appearances in 1943, Ballincollig have won a junior hurling county in 1963, an intermediate county in 1967, an U21 hurling county in 1996, another intermediate county in 1999 and an intermediate A county in 2018.
It is 27 years since the last intermediate county win and the whole club is hoping that this Sunday will be one of those very special days that happens when your club wins a county and we drive on to even further great days.
Hoping ....

The disappointment of last year has given fuel to the squad this year and driven them on to reach the final once more again this year. Anyone out in Ovens for the semi-final against Carrigaline would have been forgiven for wondering with 15 minutes to go if we were going out of the championship. The roar of the Ballincollig faithful on Brian Keatings goal and the subsequent turnaround will live long in the memory and will give massive belief to the lads.
So we wish the management of Eamonn, Ronan, Frank, Dave, Garrett, Eamonn M, Sinead, Conor, Noel, Finny, Barry and Mike the best
All the players led by James as captain and the almost 40 players on the panel who have given their all this year -
Lads "we just need one more hour plus additional time"
Hoping and believing ....
