Ballincollig GAA is proud to host a Heart Screening Day on Tuesday the 17th of February, in partnership with The Dillon Quirke Foundation. This vital initiative aims to help detect underlying heart conditions that can go unnoticed among our young GAA players.

Why Screening Matters:
Every week in Ireland, sudden cardiac death claims young lives that could have been saved through early screening. The Dillon Quirke Foundation is dedicated to preventing these tragedies by offering accessible cardiac screening to clubs across the country. See https://www.dillonquirkefoundation.com/ for more details.

Screening Details:

  • 📅 Date: Tuesday, 17th February

  • ⏰ Times: 9:00am – 5:00pm

  • 📍 Venue:  Le Chéile Building, Ballincollig GAA Club

  • 👥 Age group: Boys and girls aged 12–18 years

  • Capacity: Up to 45 players

  • 💶 Donation: A voluntary donation of €25 per child is requested to help cover the cost of additional screening days

💡 Note: This screening would normally cost €100 per person, but is being made available thanks to the generosity of the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

The screening will be carried out by Advanced Medical Services (AMS) on behalf of the Dillon Quirke Foundation.

Screening is safe, non-invasive, and could make a real difference — for your child, your family, and our club.

Initial Interest:
Parents of juvenile GAA, Camogie or LGFA who are interested in this screening are asked to complete the below form to express interest. You will need to complete a new form for each child. Please complete this from by 1pm Friday 23rd of January.

Expression of Interest Form

Completion of this form does not guarantee you a screening.

Health insurance
Some private health insurance policies include benefits towards cardiac screening for young people. For example Laya and Level Health. Families who have this cover are strongly encouraged to use it and claim the cost of screening through their health insurer. We would ask that these members avail of this service rather than taking one of the club screening places.

Important Note:
If you have a pre- existing cardiac condition and / or are under medical care for this then this screening is not suitable.

Bookings:
Parents who have registered their interest will be provided with an automated online booking link once it is received from Advanced Medical Services.
Bookings will be first come, first served, and parents are encouraged to book promptly once the link goes live.
Please note we will only have 45 slots available for screening, so we may not have enough slots for everyone.  However the club is seeking to run additional days screening dependent on interest.

Next Steps:
Please register your interest by completing the form above by 1pm Friday 23rd.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the health and wellbeing of our young players, and we encourage all eligible families to consider availing of the screening.
