The club is deeply saddened by the passing of Charlie Barrett. Charlie had a fine playing career with the Barrs (including winning two All Ireland club medals) before moving to Ballincollig in the 1980s.
He played with the Club for several years and was part of the panel which won 2 Mid Cork Junior Hurling Championships. Charlie also won a Junior B championship which showed his true character to answer the call when needed
Charlie went on to be a mentor to many underage teams. His children Niamh, Conor and Laura played with the club, and in recent years Charlie loved watching his grandson Cian in the green and white.
He was a key part of our annual Poc Fada team, dispensing sliotars and encouragement at the start.
Above all else, Charlie will be remembered for his kindness and how he fitted into the club like a glove always answeing the call for so many volunteering activities.
We send our sincere condolences to his beloved wife Margaret, to Niamh, Conor and Laura, to his brother Martin and to his seven grandchildren.
