Ballincollig v Eire Og
Monday 27 June 2016  Venue – Ovens

After 5 weeks of league games and a semifinal win over St Finbarrs, the minor team qualified for the first final of the year. Playing in perfect conditions in Ovens, the match started even enough with points being exchanged on both sides and also some misses. Gradually Ballincollig began to get a stranglehold at the back and started creating more dangerous attacks from a dominant half back line. A shot for a point under pressure from 40 yards from Darren Murphy seemed to be dropping harmlessly into square until Olan Dorgan’s vigilance created the goal chance that he calmly netted to put a goal between the sides after 15 min. Five minutes later a Jordan O'Connor supplied high ball into the square was punched to the net, again by Olan Dorgan. These 2 goals proved to be the difference at half time – Ballincollig leading 2-3 to 0-3.

The second half started in a similar vein to the first, with both sides proving wasteful in front of goal even though Ballincollig were still looking most likely to find the net. A third was eventually finished again by Dorgan after a sweet move from midfield through a number of forwards and finished calmly to an empty net. Ballincollig eventually saw out the game 3-6 to 0-9. Impressive in defence were Barry Sorrenson, Luke Fahy and Kevin Crowley. Jordan O'Connor was top in midfield while Olan Dorgan proved the match winner in the full forward line with a final tally of 3-2
