Ballincollig 3-11  Béal Áthan Ghaorthaidh 0-15

Ballincollig edged out Béal Áthan Ghaorthaidh in a cracking Ross Oil JAFC replay in Kilmichael on Saturday night. The introduction of Ian Coughlan at the break changed the course of this game as the big full forward scored 2-3 with a magnificent individual performance.
Béal Áthan Ghaorthaidh raced into an early lead with three points in a row. Ballincollig had limited possession during this period and struggled to convert a couple of chances from distance. Chris Collins made a couple of outstanding of interventions during this period as we came under lots of pressure.

Brian Cotter was picking up plenty of breaking ball and he clipped over an excellent score after a quick free from Kevin Browne. They replied with a placed effort before Cotter reduced the gap to three points with a fisted point. Chris Collins denied our opponents a certain goal with a magnificent tackle.

The sides exchanged scores as slowly but surely Ballincollig got back in the game. We received a significant boost when Brian Cotter did brilliantly to power through the defence before finding the net. They replied with a monster effort from distance and a placed effort from Kevin Browne left two points between the sides, 0-10 to 1-5 at the break.

On the resumption, Coughlan reduced the gap to the minimum with a well worked point and moments later he crashed to the net after a great delivery from Robert Noonan. Béal Áthan Ghaorthaidh were sharp on the counter attack but they squandered a glorious goal opportunity when our goalkeeper Ciaran Noonan did brilliantly. Ballincollig finished strongly and Coughlan pounced for his second goal with a magnificent catch and finish. Further points from Coughlan (free), Mark Prendergast and Kevin Browne sealed the victory.
