John Miskella recognised with Sports Star Award

November 07, 2014

John Miskella was a vital cog in Ballincollig's county triumph, which saw him picked as the monthly Southside and District Sports Star Award recipient, hosted in association with Gerald McCarthy Awards and Gifts and the Cork International Hotel.

The satisfaction from helping Cork to Sam Maguire glory in 2010 compares favourably to the Andy Scannell Cup residing in Ballincollig this winter.

“The All-Ireland win was brilliant, but I was playing with Ballincollig since I was able to kick a ball. That makes it all the more sweeter particularly after nearly 20 years playing senior,” said the 2009 All-Star.
John was joined at the function by his proud wife Claire, young sons Danny and Joe, and parents Tommy and Evelyn.  Attending on behalf of the club were Seamus O’Callaghan, Ger O’Donovan, Brian Long, Eoghan O’Callaghan, Tim Greene, John Purcell and Éamonn Murphy, the Evening Echo deputy sports editor and Ballincollig PRO.

Rebel hurling legend Gerald McCarthy, deputy Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Ken O’Flynn, deputy County Major Cllr Daithí Ó Donnabháin, and Kylie Basnett, Sales and Marketing Manager, Cork International Hotel extended congratulations to John and all associated with the team.
