Summer Camp 2012

July 10, 2012

Last week 2nd to 6th of July was our summer camp week and what a mixed bag we had weather-wise with some lovely sunshine and some torrential rain but overall, we had 230 smiling kids leaving on Friday afternoon with memories of a fantastic week. The club facilities really come into their own on a week like this with ample parking facilities for all the campers to be dropped off and collected, adequate pitches and dressing rooms and our main hall to register all on the first day.

Kelloggs are the main sponsors for this and the next 2 years and this year the red and white kit was perfect for all young rebels. Visitors this week were Cork football star Ciaran Sheehan who answered calmly questions about a certain Scoil Eoin teacher and fellow clubman. He also told a funny story about the same gentleman but that's for another day!!! We also had a visit from the legendary Sean Og O Hailpin who gave each child his full attention and signed hundreds of autographs.

A week like this takes lots of organising and a huge thank you to the organising committee especially Val who made sure everyone was looked after and kitted out. Thanks to Julie, John, all coaches and helpers. Thanks to all club members who helped. Thanks to Ritchie and all club compound staff. Lastly thank you to all parents who chose to send their kids to our summer camp. Enjoy your school holidays and remember what Sean Og said "its never too late to start playing hurling or football".
