Ladies Football Victory Celebration Night
March 24, 2012
Ballincollig Ladies Gaelic Football Club had their Celebration Dinner and Award Ceremony on Friday, 24th February at McCarthy's Bar and Bistro. The amazing performances of our Junior Team and our Under 21 team were celebrated, after both teams were successful in winning County Finals. After a fantastic four course meal, the captains of both teams (Eimear O'Sullivan-Junior Team and Rebecca O'Riordain-U21 Team) gave speeches, thanking their team mates and their trainers for all the dedication and hard work during the past year.
Two of our ladies (Meabh Flynn and Aobha Hickey) played on the Cork U18 teams in 2011, which successfully won the All Ireland Minor Cup and the Minor Munster Cup. These cups were presented to the club by the ladies on the night. Tony O' Mahony our vice chairman thanked all the girls and their mentors for their commitment during the year and the Chairman of Ballincollig GAA, Seamus O'Callaghan spoke to the ladies expressing how the successes of the Ladies Football had such a positive effect on the club as a whole. Then it was over to Pa Kelly who reminded us all of the importance of playing for your club and he then presented the medals to each of the Ladies.
A special presentation was given to Cait McManamon for her years of hard work and dedication to the club. Her unwavering commitment to the club was recognised and it was acknowledged that Ladies Football in Ballincollig would not be where it is today, were it not for her amazing contribution.
The Management of both teams (Tony O'Mahony, Paddy Lucey, Timothy Collins and Denis Young) were also presented with a commemoration for their success at bringing their teams to County level.,
The Ladies continued to celebrate into the early hours of the morning and a great night was had by all.
The facilities that were made available to us were superb and we would like to thank the staff of McCarthy's Bar and Bistro for the delicious meal and for all their help in making our night a truly memorable one.
