u12 Ladies travel to Newtownshandrum for Munster Go Games Blitz

March 27, 2012

A panel of twelve of our under 12 team headed off on Saturday, 24th March, to north Cork for the Munster Go-Games Blitz in Newtownshandrum.

The weather couldn't have been better for our early start and what a terrific day we had. Our first two games saw us playing two Tipperary teams, Brian Borus of Clogheen and Mullinahone, who gave us two great matches.  Our girls put all their skills into practice and there was some great blocking, point-taking and goals on the day.

After a well-deserved break and a lovely picnic lunch in the sunshine, we were eager to get going again.  Our afternoon game saw us playing Donoughmore first and then our near neighbours, Eire Og.  It was great to see our girls grow in confidence and all the games were very equally matched.  The Go-Games rules on the day proved very successful and the 'no-contest' rule for kick-outs ensured that every player on both teams got an equal oppurtunity to shine on the day.  And shine they did!

Our panel was:  Rachel Moriarty, Catherine O'Sullivan, Deidre O'Sullivan, Ali O Mahony, Fiona Linehan, Erin Taylor, Aishling Dore, Orlaith Keating, Ashley Oldham, Molly O'Flynn, Ciara O'Sullivan, Orlaith McCarthy and our super-sub Grace Oldham.

Many thanks to Mary Beades and all the organisers for a truely fantastic day of football and happy memories.  The girls did our club proud and a great day was had by all.
