How To Measure Correct Hurley Size
January 07, 2020
With the new GAA year beginning over the coming weeks it is extremely important for the parents of our young players to ensure their child has the correct sized hurley.
• The player stands nice and relaxed with their hands down by their sides.
• The distance from the ground to their wrist is the correct length.
• The player should be able to hold the hurley at the top and the hurley should be just touching the ground.
If your boy is between sizes it is still better to have the hurley too small rather than too big. Hurleys too long or too heavy cause so many problems in the players development and eventually lead to the boy not enjoying the game. A correct sized hurley will cause no such problems and plenty practice and good coaching will help your boy to become a two sided skillful hurler as he grows older.
