Ballincollig 2 12 vs 0 11 Valley Rovers : Senior Football
Our Senior footballers started their 2018 league campaign with a win at home to Valley Rovers. The match played at home in good conditions was fairly even for the first 15 minutes, Ballincollig then conceded a penalty which looked like letting Rovers go ahead by three points. Luckily the penalty was blasted wide and in our very next attack Ian Coughlan’s effort was saved by their keeper only for Colin Weste who was following in, to drill the ball into the back of the net for a Ballincollig goal. We finished the first half very strong with two very well executed moves resulting in points from Rob Noonan and Colin Weste. Halftime score was 1-06 to 4pts. The second half was dominated by Ballincollig’s good attacking football, points for Paddy Kelly and Sean Kiely stretched the lead before Paddy Kelly finished a great Ballincollig attack with a rocket of a shot that rested in the back of the net. With the team playing so well the management availed of the opportunity to introduce subs throughout the second half, even so, the tempo never slackened and we finished strong with the our final two points scored by midfielder Ciaran O’Sullivan, the second point was a beauty from a difficult angle. Best for Ballincollig were Pa Kelly, Rob Noonan, Kevin Browne and Luke Fahy. A good start to the our league campaign in which the management used twenty four players in the match. Final Score 2-12 to 11 pts. Scorers : P.Kelly 1-06, C.Weste 1-01, R.Noonan 2pts,C.O’Sullivan 2pts S.Kiely 1pt.
