1954 Baliincollig Fail To Field Any Adult Team
1954 must go down as the most disatrous year in the Clubs history where they failed to field a Adult team to represent the club in Mid Cork Competitions. Only a few brief years before hand the club had been competing at teh highest level and taking on successfully, the mighty teams of their day. But now no more the club had reached its lowest ebb with teh following extract from Auberts Twomey hitoricall reference Book "Ballincollig GAA - A century in Action"
The Nose Dive in the Clubs fortunes continued in 1954 and the minutes of the Proposed annual General Meeting held on teh 21st of January in the club hall , show that the election of officers and commitee for the year was not proceeded with due to poor attendance.
The poor attendance at the AGM was reflected in teams performances as all of the teams that were fielded made early exits and to add further insult to injury , for the first time ever failed to field an adult team in the Mod Cork Chmpionship.
However the men of this era showed nerves of steel to keep the club alive when everything , including the cost of the Club Hall was going against them. The 1955 meeting had an excellent attendance and the club began to build from scratch once more, displosong of the financial liability of the club hall and re organising under new structures.
